About Alexis
Alexis was born in New York City’s Lower East Side but her family moved to Cali Colombia when she was almost too young to remember. It is obvious that Cali’s centuries old neoclassical architecture and her mother’s fashion designs made an indelible impression on her that is still with her today. 

When she was in her early twenties she moved back to New York and made a move into fashion, enrolling at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology . It was there that she swiftly met like minded people, collaborating on a wide array of fashion and style ideas. Without even realizing it, she was always drawn to the hair... “I always felt hair is the ultimate accessory... You wear your hair every single day.” She soon embarked on getting her cosmetology license. 

She worked in several small salons absorbing all aspects of the industry but it wasn’t until she landed her position at Mizu’s New York Salon that her journey in this industry truly began. Mizu has a long history of education steeped in the Vidal Sassoon/Bumble and Bumble traditions. It’s the best of both worlds where sharp clean Sassoon precision cuts collide with edgy razor cuts.
